The IEBA Board of Governors and staff members hold advanced degrees, as well as professional positions in their fields of expertise, so they can provide industry professionals and companies with the most current information and practices in their subject areas. The institutes and units under the direction of the Board of Governors are Professional Certification Institute, Postgraduate Education Institute, R&D Institute,
Conformity Assessment Committee, Engineering Business Advisory Board, Administrative Committee and Engineering Business Society in accordance with IEBA organizational structure,
as well as
International Engineering Business
Accreditation Council. The President is the Head and Chief Executive of the Academy.

The duties of the Board of Governor

To fulfill the mission and strategic vision of the academy long-term programs, business plans and key performance indicators, and to ensure that these meet the interests of our communities.

To delegate authority to the President of the Academy, as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), for the academics, corporate, financial, estate and personnel management of the academy and to establish and keep under regular review the policies, procedures and limits within such management functions as shall be undertaken by and under the authority of the president.
- To delegate authority under the President, to the Registrar, as a Head of the Academy Administration Services (although Finance and Development/External Affairs report direct to the President), and is responsible for the management and professional development of their staff and for the development of other administrative support. The Academy other senior administrative officers are under the general direction of the Registrar and are responsible to her for the due performance of their duties, except that they always have the right to make their views on financial, professional, and technical matters known to the President, Boards and the appropriate committees of the Academy

To ensure processes are in place to monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the academy against the plans and approved key performance indicators, which are, where possible and appropriate, benchmarked against other comparable institutions.

To establish processes to monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the Board of Governors itself.
- To conduct the business of the Board of Governors in accordance with best practice in international learning corporate governance and with the principles of public life drawn up by the Assessment Committee and Engineering Business Advisory Board

To safeguard the good name and values of the academy

To be the employing authority for all staff in the Academy and to be responsible for establishing a human resources strategy.

To be the Academy legal authority and, as such, to ensure that systems are in place for meeting all the Academy legal obligations, including those arising from contracts and other legal commitments made in the institution’s name.

To make such provision as it thinks fit for the general welfare of our communities, in activities with the academy programs.

To act as trustee for any property, legacy, endowment, bequest or gift in support of the work and welfare of the Academy

To ensure that the academy policies are followed at all times and that appropriate advice is available to enable this to happen.
